Space Red Box to Close for 2012?
Thursday 3rd November 2011 - 16:26
Since the close of the Space season rumours have slowly been emerging suggesting that the intimate space, regarded as the place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main arenas, has seen its last season on the island.
Rumours have it that the clubbing super-brand will be replacing the Red Box with a VIP section, the type of exclusive ‘place to be seen’ area that is synonymous with clubs such as Pacha and Ushuaia. Space has so far resisted temptations to go down this route and such a move will no doubt cause a stir amongst die-hard fans. However we can rest-assured in the knowledge that the news will come as a great delight for the likes of Puff Daddy and Sienna Miller.
Whilst dance music heavyweights and big players such as Carl Cox, Francois K and Jamie Jones have been packing-out the Terraza and Discoteca, the Red Box has been famed for being a place to get deeper and go further underground. This year the room played host to en vogue artists such as Adam Shelton, Subb-an and The Revenge, whilst previous years have included everything from Appleblim and his Bristol-based Applepips imprint to the Future Disco parties, lead by Sean Brosnan. 2012 would surely miss these contributions should these rumours turn out be true.
