New Security Laws for Ibiza 2012
Thursday 10th November 2011 - 15:35
Many of us never give too much thought for the security that patrol the clubs and events we love in Ibiza. But a well-publicised incident involving a bouncer at Ushuaia this year, who had been employed without a thorough background check, has prompted the government to bring about changes in the way bouncers and trained and registered.
Government officials in Ibiza have acknowledged the importance of the summer season and the safety of tourists by introducing new security regulations. As the last thing the island wants is for the millions of clubbers that attend events on the island each summer to not feel safe.
The club gatekeepers will now have to undergo a 40-hour course learning how to deal with different personalities in a non-violent manner as well as fire safety and basic first-aid. As well as a central register for security staff across the island, there will also be increased regulations and requirements for the eligibility of employees. As such by 2014 it is expected that no member security staff will be employed if they have any previous convictions.
The measures will surely provide an even safer holiday for clubbers and thus a higher-quality Ibiza experience.
