Ibiza and sunsets have always been synonymous with one another and any trip to the island, no matter how short, simply has to include at least one Ibiza sunset. Visitors to Ibiza often cite the remarkable quality of the light on the island. This is one of the foremost reasons Ibiza has always been such a magnet for artists (as well as everyone else!). The last couple of hours before the sun goes down are arguably the most beautiful part of the day on the White Isle as the landscape is immersed in a canvas of warm colours that gradually evolve as twilight sets in.
The island has many varied places from which to watch the sunset. With this in mind Nonstop has put together a list of some of the best places for you to choose from for your sunset experience, with cold Sangria in hand recommended:
San Antonio Sunset
The sunset strip with famous venues such as Café Del Mar and Café Mambo is now an almost folkloric place to catch sundown. These days there are plenty of other restaurants and bars to choose from that sit alongside or you could of course head down to the rocks and join the crowds just under the promenade.
Cala d’Hort
If you prefer the more rustic approach it is worth making your way to the cliffs high above this beach where it’s an altogether more contemplative experience. Apart from a few other sunset seekers you can find yourself a secluded spot and catch the sunset with the mysterious island of Es Vedra below you. Not for those scared of heights!
Cala Conta
Beautiful location with easily accessible cliffs located just above the beach. Unmistakable views, with the added incentive of the fabulous restaurant/bars - Sunset Ashram and S’Illa des Bosc.
Benirras
Benirras is a popular beach to the north of the island where the sunset drumming gatherings take place each Sunday and remain a major draw for crowds. However any day of the week it’s a charming beach with clear waters surrounded by cliffs and pines.
Cap des Falco
This fantastic Italian restaurant in Ses Salines national park is a little known gem for watching the sunset. You can spend the day at the two close by beaches: Salinas and Es Cavallet, which are both south facing. Then make the short drive from either beach to Cap Des Falco for this western facing location and enjoy the last rays of sunshine.
