A Guide to Playa D’en Bossa

Playa D’en Bossa is one of the major resorts on the island of Ibiza. It attracts an unusual mix of package holidaymakers, resort bound families and fun seeking clubbers. Traditionally a German resort (while San Antonio is the British outpost) you will find the German influence in the bars and restaurants in the area.

The beach is only a short distance from the airport and ten minutes form Ibiza town, making it popular as a short stay destination. The beach itself stretches 2 km in distance and is 20 to 30 metres wide, with a distinct change in atmosphere about halfway down. Like Ibiza itself, you will find the house music and dancing, but continue walking to the most southern end and there is a quiet oasis. While if you walk to the North you eventually hit the peninsula of rocks which if followed round bring you to the popular resort of Figueretas.

Bora Bora

The resort is possibly most famous for the Bora Bora beach bar. Once an innocent beach bar with music playing from its speakers, now an all day clubbing institution. One of the last places you can hear music under the blue sky in Ibiza. Every day you will find hundreds of people gathered round swaying to the house beats. Muscle men, bikini clad girls and an unusual guy in a spider outfit, you can find them all here.

Water sports

The shallow waters are ideal for children on Playa D’en Bossa. It’s also a great place for water sports. You will find various hotels and outlets allowing you to get involved in all manner of activities. From the more windsurfing to banana boats there is something for everyone to have a go.

If getting in the sea isn’t your thing then the Aguamar water park is worth a visit. Situated near the car park of the nightclub Space the park offers the usual arrange of slides and pools to keep all ages happy. It can get very busy in peak season but otherwise a good day out.

Restaurants

You won’t find the exclusive restaurants in Playa D’en Bossa but you will find good value for money eateries serving everything from Spanish Tapas, to pizza to fresh fish. Families are well catered for on this part of the island. All the big fast food outlets have emerged in recent times and the obligatory Subway is here too.

Beach Bars

In the past couple of years Play D’en Bossa has started to return as a more upmarket offering with a string of high class hotels opening and with it a new school of beach bars. Towards the southern side you will find Sands right on the beach serving great food alongside great music and next door the newly opened Ushuaiai following a similar format.

Nightclubs

Playa D’en Bossa is world famous for the nightclub Space. The club really is world class and its opening party at the start of June attracts twenty thousand clubbers each year. With five rooms and more DJs you can count on both hands and feet, it really is an experience.

If Space is just too nig for your liking there is the newly opened Martina nightclub on the main strip in Playa D’en Bossa. It opened below the five star hotel Junto hotel and caters for glam crowd.
