It’s that time of year again, where the attention starts to focus on when Ibiza will be back open for business for another season of unforgettable parties. Clubs such as Pacha stay open all year round, though nights are restricted to just the weekend in the winter months. The other major clubs meanwhile, open in a blaze of glory in May and June each year. Each promoter and club night the follow with their own opening party and what you get is two months of opening parties from around mid May to mid July. Any excuse for a party it seems in Ibiza.
Here NonStopIbiza round up some of the confirmed parties to date and the big nights that you won’t want to miss.
First up is the opening party of opening parties: The Space Opening Fiesta. Each year the Play D’en Bossa club opens with a huge all day and night party attracting over ten thousand people. It has become a key date in the global clubbing calendar and is the unofficial benchmark to say Ibiza clubland has opened for business. It takes place on Sunday 30th May.
The event’s success has lead to a string of parties taking place around the date to capitalise on the in flux of people to the island and provide non-stop parties ether side of the big day.
Circo Loco will be back in 2010 to reinstate themselves on the Monday afternoon spot on 31st May. It will be a big day for the club and promotion to see if this is the season they can avoid closure. The day before the space opening is what feels like could almost be as big as Space opening itself. The opening of Ushuaia Beach Club takes place on Saturday 29th May and with Luciano at the helm you can expect thousands of people dancing on the beach until midnight. On the same day, Zoo Project at Gala Night throws opens its cage door for an open air house and techno extravaganza, on the San Antonio side of the island.
So that’s the weekend taken care of, but if you find yourself in Ibiza on the days leading up to the ‘Opening Weekend’, for the third year the International Music Summit will be taking place in Ibiza. The event has grown in size and stature to welcome the cream of the music industry, gathering to discuss and shape the future of the dance music business. There are fringe events throughout the week, but the big party is on the Friday 28th May. Each year a headline dance act performs live in a special outdoor location. If last year’s party is anything to go by, it should be on the hit list this year too. The headliner is yet to be announced.
If you can’t make the opening weekend, never fear as the opening parties just keep on coming. Monday 14th June sees Sven Vath’s Cocoon blast off for another futuristic themed season at Amnesia. You only have to wait until 8th June for the Ibiza Rocks Opening Party. Guests are yet to be announced but they have really started to attract some exceptional headliners in recent years, so opening or closing party, chances are you are going to catch someone special. Another San Antonio based night, Pete Tong’s Wonderland, kicks off on the 25th June at ever improving super club Eden.
