The annual Ibiza DJ awards will take place tonight in a shower of flash bulbs and cocktails at Ibiza Town nightclub Pacha. The awards celebrate the biggest names in the business in each genre including best techno, trance, progressive house and even an inclusion of downtempo and eclectic category. Often the ‘Best Ibiza Night’ award and the ‘’Outstanding Contribution’ produce the most interesting results, celebrating the individuals and teams that have worked so hard for years to make something happen in the difficult and competitive business of dance music and Ibiza clubs.

The results however haven’t been without controversy. Held at Pacha, the awards can sometimes be accused of leaning in Ibiza town’s favour. However, the awards are still a great barometer of where dance music is and the hero’s of the island of that particular year.

The event continues well into the night, post awards, with the suitably appropriate F**K Me I’m Famous night and last year’s ‘Best House DJ’ winner David Guetta (pictured).
