Its been a different season for 2009, with many promoters bringing their closing dates forward instead of the usual party out until October. As reported last month, Space decided to close the season a week earlier than usual and combine with We Love for their closing, new club Boho shut quickly on the 12th of September and other parties such as Be at Space and Carwash weren’t far behind.

It’s not clear exactly why so many have decided to shut up shop so early but no doubt numbers were part of the problem. A year which is blighted by global recession and the heavy arm of the law closing key venues such as DC10 and banning all after hours must harbour some of the blame. But at the same time Cocoon has seen numbers swell (again), general reports across the island have been positive and the reports from clubbers is as good as it ever was. All we do know is that 2010 is going to be even more interesting.
