Ibiza Beach: Las Salinas - Salt City

Friday 10th July 2009 - 17:56

Salinas beach is within a nature reserve, so you are guaranteed some stunning scenery and beautiful surroundings. On the coast of the Salt Lakes that also give the beach its name, it is located in an historical important area of Ibiza providing one of the only natural resources found in Ibiza.

Las Salinas is not a resort but more of a daytime meeting place. The young and old, beautiful and forgotten all gather on the long sandy beach of Salinas to enjoy the crystal clear water and pine forests that create a natural backdrop to the sand.

Throughout the day a range of beach bars, play music that seems to be in perfect sync with the sunshine that beats down. The Jockey Club is a firm favourite of the beach lovers but has a pricelist that can shock even the most financially blessed.

Sa Trinxa further to the north of the beach is located amongst the nudist area so don’t be surprised to see naked people dancing in the sunshine. For those who like it a bit more VIP Malibu and Guarana both offer sun beds and table service.

Hotel accommodation is scare in Las Salinas but the newly opened Boutique Hostel Salinas offers reasonably priced rooms at just a stone throws away from the beach. And all tastefully decorated with an impressive sun terrace.

Las Salinas is only ten kilometres from Ibiza Town and around six from Playa D’en Bossa so there should be no excuse not to visit even on the shortest of breaks. You will never regret it. The easiest way to get to Salinas is by car (as are most places in Ibiza), but there are also regular buses from Ibiza town and Playa D’en Bossa.
