Cala Carbo is a diminutive but charming beach nuzzled in between pine covered cliffs on the western coast of Ibiza; consider it something of a relative secret if you like. The bay is enclosed by an almost perfect circle of precipices but for a gap allowing sea views and of course boats to come and go. Consequently it is sheltered from any winds and with the combination of clear waters makes for an ideal place for snorkelling. The beach is a blend of pebbles and sand and has sun loungers for hire.
Manage the slightly taxing walk up the cliffs to the left, as you are facing the sea, and you will be rewarded with some spectacular views of the horizon, the surrounding landscape and also of the mysterious island Es Vedra.
There are two restaurants on the beach, Cala Carbo and Balneario, serving up traditional local coastal fare such as paella and fresh seafood.
Cala Carbo remains one of Ibiza’s most tranquil beaches, off the beaten path and therefore rarely overcrowded. A pearl of a beach for those of you seeking something a little quieter. To get there head towards San Jose and it is signposted to the north, just outside of town.
