Regularly cited by locals and knowledgeable tourists as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Aguas Blancas is set to a stunning backdrop of high cliffs embracing a wide sandy beach and beautiful turquoise waters which are pierced by the occasional rocky islet a short swim away. These miniature islands are very popular as improvised sun loungers aswell as launch pads from which to jump into the sea, though of course you have to clamber up them first.
If you happen to see the odd person minus their clothing it’s not because there is a spate of bikini and speedo thefts but rather because Aguas Blancas is nudist friendly. The sun disappears behind the cliffs comparatively early here so make sure you get a spot at either end of the beach where you are sure to catch some rays the longest.
There are two establishments here offering the hungry or thirsty a cure for your respective ailment. Firstly there is Aguas Blancas restaurant which has grown from a tiny shack into a fully fledged eatery but still manages to maintain the charm of it humble origins. A wide menu is available with fresh seafood and also sandwiches to take away. Further down the beach is the tiny shack called El Chiringuito serving up cold drinks and sandwiches (try the famous Serrano ham, cheese and tomato sandwich, you won’t be disappointed).
Above the beach there is a car park with a steep path down; after a relaxing day on the beach the walk back up can prove a little testing. Aguas Blancas is on the north eastern coast a short drive from the village of San Carlos and easily in the top five most recommended beaches on the island.
