Bora Bora beach bar, situated in Playa den Bossa, is (nearly) a 24-hour establishment. Alternative party pockets have popped up along the long the stretch of beach at Playa D’en Bossa and still Bora Bora remains a staple outing. Situated in front of the Jet Apartments and only two hundred metres or so from Space, it has become the perfect warm up and a viable alternative to the super club itself.
The area has seen a growth in commodities, although the bar has changed very little from its original conception in the 90’s. Though today screens have been installed so the party spills less onto the tourist beach and feels more contained as its own party. Its longevity bonds well to the experience of many each summer. Bora Bora has become as established as any one of the major clubs on the island, mainly due to its notorious daytime sessions.
By day the beach accommodates sun seekers and music lovers – the ideal festival atmosphere. Muscle men and bikini clad women jostle for attention and if you’re lucky you may spot Spiderman, or any other of unusual characters that seem to appear at Bora Bora on a frequent basis.
Throughout the day resident DJs such as Oliver Lang and Heath Holmes play their party brand of electronic house music to coach the weary heads from the night before back into another day of partying. Hands in the air one-side and bopping boats the other – it simply seems to work. The atmosphere reaches a crescendo as the sounds of new arrivals descend (a major flight path onto the Island is just above).
By night the bar’s space is entrenched requiring you buy your drinks inside. It does not however have a door fee and the prices of drinks are reasonable in comparison to the major clubs (though still not cheap).
Due to legal sound restrictions, the music stops at midnight to those on the beach. But it does not stop there; a small discotheque starts up inside taking you through until the early hours. The beach bar party turns into its own beach club venue.
The sun rises at around 5am and if you’re still up, it’s the perfect way to start the new day, back at Bora Bora on the beach telling yourself you can’t do it all again.
