El Divino Closes, Pacha Become The New Landlords
Monday 23rd November 2009 - 19:31
Each year there seemed to have been the looming closure of El Divino, just around the corner. Often you could hear people profess it was El Divino’s last, and so it was to be in 2009. The 09 season could be rated as the club’s worst. Without any major promoters, the departure of Hed Kandi and aging decoration you could feel the club slipping from many clubbers’ agenda.
That’s not to say the club hasn’t played an important part in Ibiza’s nightlife. Great nights such as Defected often started at the club, only to migrate to their bigger and richer neighbours.
So with not people surprised that 2009 was El Divino’s last, they may be more surprised to learn that the new owners are Pacha. It’s unsure at this time what Pacha aim to do with El Divino, as their empire stretches from restaurants to clothing, and of course where it all started – nightclubs. One thing is for certain, they have purchased a prime location, with great views of the harbour in a rapidly developing area of Ibiza. Whatever the Pacha team decide to do with the site, it will be a new chapter in Ibiza clubbing in 2010.
