Amnesia has gone through many incarnations to what clubbers enjoy today. Not much to look at from the outside, situated on the road between Ibiza Town to San Antonio, it is fact a modern cathedral to club music. Once an old farmhouse that catered for the bohemian locals and fascinated tourists, it’s main draw was to dance in the open air to a broad range of musical styles.
Today the club couldn’t be more different. Visitors could still dance in the open air until the summer of 1999, after which the venue was forced to create a roof to cover the music, along with most other ibizian venues. It has been the catalyst for Amnesia to create two huge spaces where the main room and terrace only seems separated by name.
The immense sound system is one of the reasons so many of the world’s best DJs chose Amnesia as their summer home. The other reason being its huge dance floors that make this feel like the best warehouse you have ever been too. That’s not forgetting the powerful H2O jets that regularly explode with bursts of air, which never fail to rouse the atmosphere. The famous Ibiza foam parties still take place here on a Wednesday and if you like dancing in tonnes of foam with five thousand strangers then this is the night for you. Otherwise, along with around eight thousand others, Cocoon on Mondays is the Ibiza night of choice.
